2017 National NRM Regions Chairs’ Forum
The Victorian Catchment Management Authority (CMA) Chairs are pleased to host the 2017 National NRM Regions Chairs Forum and to welcome you to Melbourne.
This is the 15th annual Forum of Australia’s regional NRM organisation Chairs and coincides with 20th anniversary of the establishment of Victoria’s 10 regional NRM organisations (we call them CMAs).
You will see from the draft program that the over-arching theme for 2017 is innovation in NRM – across the categories of Partnerships, Programs, Delivery and Governance. We plan to share with you several recent Victorian government innovations relating to NRM. The Victorian government recently recommitted to the regional model for natural resource management through its $22 million Our Catchments Our Communities strategy (2016) and the strong role for CMAs in the Victorian Water Plan – Water for Victoria. That plan provides a long-term blueprint for investment in water-related activities and the water sector with the Victorian Government investing $537 million over four years and just under half of that investment – $222 million – will help improve the health of Victoria’s waterways and catchments.
Planning for the Forum is progressing well.
The Forum will be held at the Treetops Room, Melbourne Museum, Carlton Gardens Melbourne (see map below for details).
The latest draft of the Forum program can be found is attached. This will be updated regularly as speakers are confirmed.
A welcome reception will be held from 6.30 pm to 8.00 pm on Wednesday 31 May at the Metropole Central Hotel, 44 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy (see map)
The Forum dinner will be on the evening of Thursday 1 June – details will be available shortly.
But we need your help. Having a good idea of the number of delegates attending these events will assist us in finalising the venues. The registration form ia attached – if you are attending can you register by Friday 5 May 2017.
