About Natural Resources Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges

Natural Resources Adelaide & Mt Lofty Ranges (AMLR) is responsible for delivering a range of programs and projects on behalf of the AMLR Natural Resources Management (NRM) Board and the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources.

Their work aims to achieve the targets set out in the AMLR NRM Plan. This plan was developed by the board in partnership with the community and stakeholders.

By managing, protecting and, in some cases, restoring the region’s precious natural resources, they’re aiming to balance the needs of people with those of nature through, for example, on-farm plastic recycling.

Thousands of tonnes of agricultural plastics such silage and binder twine are consumed in SA annually. Most of this plastic is either burned, buried or left in the paddock. In 2013, they supported a trial  to recycle this plastic and turn it into useful farm products. Watch the story:
