Local Land Services and Ethical Fields recently delivered the pioneering Environmental Markets Leadership Program (EMLP), designed to equip farmers and land managers with the skills to engage in emerging environmental markets. As a pilot initiative in largely uncharted territory, the EMLP fostered new understanding, language, and frameworks around natural capital and market participation.
This presentation will share key insights from the program’s delivery, including foundational elements that will shape future environmental market development. It will also reflect on the program’s innovative and exploratory nature—highlighting the absence of a standardised model and the lessons learned from engaging landholders in new ways. The emergence of community champions, enhanced local capacity, and valuable contributions to policy and practice will also be presented.
