The Wildlife Observatory of Australia (WildObs) provides a streamlined, end-to-end system for managing and analysing camera trap data, helping users turn images and into clear, actionable insights. This session will walk through the full data lifecycle: from collecting images in a standardized format in the field, to uploading them to a secure platform where computer vision identifies species automatically. From there, the data is curated, exported, and ready for analysis. We’ll demonstrate how WildObs generates reports that help you track trends in wildlife, assess against a list of standard ecological variables (eg, elevation, forest quality, ecosystem integrity), and guide local management decisions. For those interested in going deeper, we’ll run a short, hands-on session where you can access sample data, spatially resample data to enable the creation of detection matrices to run basic occupancy and abundance models that correct for imperfect detection. WildObs is designed to make camera trap data easier to use by providing tools to monitor and manage landscapes more effectively.
