Dr. Jarod Lyon is the Applied Aquatic Ecology Section Leader at the Arthur Rylah Institute for Environmental Research (ARI), part of Victoria’s Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action.
A seasoned freshwater ecologist, he specializes in restoration ecology, ecological management planning, and intervention-based research to inform policy and conservation strategies. His work includes large-scale projects like the Murray River resnagging initiative, which significantly boosted native fish populations through habitat restoration.
Dr. Lyon also leads the “10 in TEN” program, aiming to recover ten threatened fish species within a decade.
His collaborative approach bridges science, policy, and community engagement to enhance aquatic biodiversity across south-eastern Australia.
