Julie Kija Williams (owner and operator of Kija Creations) is an artist and cultural practitioner with connections to Cape York Country through the Kuku Yalanji and Taepadhighi Clan estates. Her primary art form is weaving, a skill passed down by Elders, and has been part of her personal healing journey for over 20 years.
Working mainly with materials such as raffia, native grasses and recycled fibres, her weavings often reflect landscapes, animals, water, stories and ancestral teachings.
Kija’s work has been showcased in galleries, cultural festivals and markets.
Kija also shares her skills through workshops and community projects.
Her weaving has become both a personal healing journey and a way to inspire others to reconnect with the land, spirit, and creativity within themselves.
Beyond creating woven artworks Kija shares her intimate knowledge of plant medicine through her skincare range.
Ethically sourced and hand-harvested native plant materials are the foundation of her bush medicine products crafted into balms, oils, and skincare that support both physical wellbeing and spiritual connections.
