Regional NRM organisations are being showcased on the world stage at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 29) held in Baku, Azerbaijan. The series of three videos demonstrate how regional NRM organisations are contributing to understanding climate change impacts to inform investment; addressing climate change impacts and biodiversity loss through integrated solutions; and building climate resilience and reducing risk from extreme events.

Thank you to the Australian Government for funding these videos and promoting them at COP 29. The need to rapidly reduce emissions and find ways to manage the increasing impacts of climate change has never been more urgent, and we know the work of regional NRM organisations across the country  can support action to minimise the worst impacts of the changing climate.

Many thanks to regional NRM organisations for both participating in these videos, and for your critical work in addressing the climate change crisis:

  • NRM North (Tasmania)
  • Riverina Local Land Services (NSW)
  • Northern and Yorke Landscape Board (South Australia)
  • Healthy Land and Water (Queensland)
  • NRM South (Tasmania)
  • OceanWatch Australia (national)
  • Murraylands and Riverlands Landscape Board (South Australia)
  • Terrain NRM (Queensland)

These videos are drawn from the work of regional NRM organisations across the continent and were produced by Nviro Media.

Carbon + Biodiversity trials across the country

Twelve regional NRM organisations across Australia delivered the Australian Government’s Carbon + Biodiversity Pilots which trialled how a market arrangement for landholders could create new income from plantings that deliver biodiversity improvements and carbon sequestration.

This silent (closed captions) film showcases the positive work of three regional NRM organisations: NRM North (Tasmania), Riverina Local Land Services (NSW) and Northern and Yorke Landscape Board (South Australia) in supporting landholders to participate in integrated projects that build on-farm climate resilience and help to deliver both climate mitigation and nature positive outcomes.

Monitoring to understand climate impact and investment

Examples from three regional NRM organisations across Australia: Healthy Land and Water (Queensland), NRM South (Tasmania), and OceanWatch (national) showcase the innovative and community based monitoring and assessment they are undertaking to understand climate impacts and how this knowledge can help to inform action and investment.

Climate resilience and risk reduction

Three regional NRM organisations : Healthy Land and Water (Queensland), Murraylands and Riverlands (South Australia) and Terrain NRM (Queensland) demonstrate how they are working with people, including First Nations Peoples and Traditional Owners, to build climate resilience and reduce risks from extreme events for people and the environment.
