David Martin of Weelhamby farms is a strong believer in the role agriculture can play in meeting the challenges of climate change through carbon sequestration and environmental stewardship.

Weelhamby Farm is a 5,500 Ha mixed cropping and grazing property near Perenjori on the eastern edge of the WA Wheatbelt, with a sub 300mm rainfall area. David thinks this makes Weelhamby an ideal property on which to demonstrate the viability and the benefits of building soil carbon in a marginal farming area. The carbon projects comprise a 3,200 Ha soil carbon project and a 230 Ha revegetation project.

David has worked with the Carbon Farming Foundation to set up the project.
