Australia’s 2019-2020 wildfires were catastrophic for biodiversity and communities, burning more than 12 million hectares. This extreme event tested the capacity of people and systems across several states to conserve threatened species and ecological communities, and highlighted the urgency for resourcing First Nations heritage protection and fire management. The webinar discusses lessons learnt and insights identified through research that highlight the need for stronger integration of First Nations, NRM and biodiversity perspectives into our response and recovery efforts altogether.
