Rachel is an environmental researcher, knowledge broker, public speaker and writer, with 10 years of experience working in biodiversity and social-environmental systems. In addition to her work with NRM Regions Australia, she leads research on regional planning, cultural land management, nature risk and opportunities for business, and cultures of care for biodiversity. She helped found the Melbourne Biodiversity Institute, which she now co-leads.
Rachel supports the nature-led resilience project, with a focus on the evidence-base and monitoring and evaluation framework for assessing the effectiveness of nature-led resilience strategies for disaster risk reduction, landscape resilience, human health and wellbeing, and biodiversity. She also provides support on emergency preparedness, disaster recovery, climate adaptation and environmental recovery.
