Corangamite CMA is partnering with Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (WTOAC) and Greening Australia to protect iconic species in the Victorian Volcanic Plain grasslands under the Victorian Government’s Icon Species Program.

The aim of the project is to propagate six key endangered grassland plants that hold Cultural significance for Wadawurrung Traditional Owners, in order to create a genetically diverse and robust seedbank at the WTOAC nursery to be used in the future to bolster wild populations. Less than 1% of Volcanic Plains grasslands remains, with these areas in fragmented patches within small road, rail and cemetery reserves.
