Daintree discovery overnighter

Step into the world’s oldest surviving rainforest and explore the innovative environmental and cultural initiatives shaping the Daintree’s future.

This two-day trip includes:

• local Indigenous guide led Mossman Gorge Ngadiku Dreamtime tour with rich cultural experiences like a traditional ‘smoking’ ceremony, exploring traditional plant use, identifying bush food sources, making bush soaps and ochre painting as you walk through the oldest rainforest on earth. Mossman Gorge is a cultural landscape of incredible views and diversity where you might see wildlife such as the Southern Cassowary and Boyd’s Forest Dragon. At the end of the tour you will enjoy traditional bush tea and damper.
• learning about the cutting-edge, organic techniques being used to restore more than 500ha of the Daintree’s tropical rainforest ecosystem. 
• visiting one of the largest tropical rainforest nurseries in the region, which is growing local, native rainforest species for replanting and restoration of degraded land. Hear about the inspiring projects using these trees.
• joining the Jabalbina Indigenous rangers to see one of the first projects developed under the innovative Cassowary Credit Scheme, a new biodiversity credit program designed specifically for the Wet Tropics region. 
• observing the work being done under the Coastal Wetlands Restoration Streambank Erosion project to build waterway health and resilience.

Garden loft (twin room, shared bathroom) accommodation at Ferntree Lodge in the Daintree. All bedding and linen included.
