Paul is a geographer working to support sustainable development under a changing climate. Paul operates at the science policy interface, providing strategic advice to support decision-making and the adaptation of complex systems.
For the past 8 years, Paul has focused on disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation. Through the Enabling Resilient Investment initiative he works with decision-makers, using novel approaches to assessing risk and opportunities and designing place-based and systemic resilience building interventions including the development of national policy and programs.
He has a background in environment informatics, the research and development of spatial data infrastructure and the design of governance and institutional arrangements for complex socio-technical systems. Before joining CSIRO he spent over a decade working in the UN system in international development in Asia and humanitarian response in Africa. This included five years working with UNESCO on the nomination and management of World Heritage sites in South East Asia.
