Uncle Phil is a proud Duduroa and Yorta Yorta man born on and deeply connected to Country and culture, with strong ties across many Aboriginal communities including Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung, Wemba Wemba & Muthi Muthi. For the past four years, he has been a dedicated Wetland Ranger with the Duduroa Dhargal Aboriginal Corporation (DDAC), working to protect and revitalise local landscapes through traditional knowledge and environmental stewardship.
Uncle Phil’s current focus is on transforming Ryan’s Lagoon into a vibrant cultural learningscape — a place where future generations can come to learn, reflect, and connect with the wisdom of Elders and the teachings of ancestors. His work is grounded in the principle of passing down knowledge in meaningful, place-based ways, ensuring the stories, practices, and custodianship of the land remain alive and strong.
