Improving agricultural productivity by restoring natural capital in the Swan region

  • Context: Regional

The Project Team are visiting properties throughout the Perth NRM region and working with landholders to implement a range of land management practices. This could include things like increasing ground cover through improved pasture establishment and designing paddocks for wildlife corridors (revegetation techniques), surface water management and/or rotational grazing (livestock management). There’ll also be the opportunity to have soil samples taken and if there’s a water course or dam on the property, water quality testing too.

We’re also looking to address other common challenges we see landholders in the region facing, such as adapting to changing rainfall patterns and temperatures, understanding the consequences of excessive fertiliser use, and biosecurity risks like the Polyphagous Shot-Hole Borer.

In addition to property visits and one-on-one support, this project will deliver a number of community engagement activities such as workshops, field days and videos, for peer-to-peer learning and sharing of information and skills. A chance to connect with your local community, hear from topic experts and contribute to improving the natural areas and productive landscapes throughout the Swan Region.
