Reefwise Farming partners with landholders to improve farming practices and protect reef water quality. By combining fit-for-purpose equipment with expert, locally relevant agronomic support, growers can make confident management decisions, close key knowledge gaps, and achieve stronger outcomes on farm.

The Reefwise Farming Project supports sugarcane growers to enhance nutrient, pesticide and irrigation management while maintaining productivity.

Through tailored agronomic advice, grants and education, the program helps growers adopt best-management practices that reduce runoff into waterways. 

The project works with around 60 landholders across the region, providing access to tools, trials and peer learning to accelerate sustainable practice change.

By aligning productivity with environmental outcomes, Reefwise Farming plays a key role in reducing nutrient and chemical loads entering the Great Barrier Reef.
