The Mid Brisbane Rivercare Program, backed by Seqwater, combines private landholder knowledge with Healthy Land & Water’s environmental engineering expertise to protect drinking water catchments across South East Queensland.
The Mt Crosby East Bank and West Bank water treatment plants supply drinking water to greater Brisbane and Ipswich, and improving the quality of incoming raw water reduces the energy required for treatment — a critical consideration as the region’s population continues to grow.
The program supports landholders bordering source waterways with practical, tailored solutions including weed control, stock fencing, erosion management, off-stream watering, riverbank revegetation, and broadscale education workshops. Each intervention delivers a dual benefit: protecting source water quality while improving land productivity and management outcomes for individual landholders.
This collaborative model demonstrates how targeted investment in catchment health translates to tangible, lasting environmental and community outcomes.
This restoration and water protection program is delivered in partnership with Seqwater.
