How NRM and community plans can achieve benefits from carbon and nature repair projects.
On 9 April Dr Nikki Dumbrell from CSIRO presented to the NRM Regions Australia Carbon Farming and Environmental Markets Community of Practice on the work she has been doing in southern Queensland to explore how regional NRM plans (and other community plans) can be used to inform and articulate achievable environmental and social co-benefits from carbon and nature repair type projects at the community and regional scale.
Dr Dumbrell’s research found that regional NRM plans documents provided important insights, resources and understanding that could be used to inform projects and deliver additional benefits from carbon and nature repair projects. NRM and other community plans also contain other important and relevant information that could provide insights into questions of likely acceptability of developments and other land use changes that occur at the regional scale.
