The NQ Dry Tropics’ Landholders Driving Change project is a Burdekin Major Integrated Project funded by the Queensland Government through the Queensland Reef Water Quality Program. It works with graziers and other landholders to adopt improved land management practices like land remediation, improving grazing plans and targeted land management to reduce sediment flows.
Graziers met with a specialist to discuss soil health, pasture performance and herd productivity. The three-day tour of properties involved ‘walking the landscape’ to discuss what was happening on-ground, and to develop improved grazing plans. The group also visited previous NQ Dry Tropics projects focused on improving fencing and water infrastructure to spread grazing pressure and to a landscape rehydration site.
