Over the past 6 years NRM North has worked with and funded landholders to fence over 650km of the Tamar River to exclude nearly half a million livestock and improve the health and resilience of the Kanamaluka / Tamar estuary.

The success of the Tamar Action Grants (TAGs), which were funded through the Tamar Estuary River Health Action as an initiative of the Launceston City Deal, is being showcased through the release of two videos series.

Funded activities include installing off-stream stock water, revegetating stream banks and associated weed control, and upgrading dairy effluent systems with the aim to reduce pathogen levels, nutrients and sediment entering the estuary. This holistic approach has reduced the threat from pathogens such as liver fluke and Leptospirosis to people and animals alike, while restoring nature, and improving on-farm efficiency.
