ACT NRM are leading a four-year project to set up demonstration trials across six farms in the ACT to explore soil health constraints, pasture productivity in cold temperate grazing systems and inform land managers decision-making.
Funded by the Australian Government’s Climate Smart Agriculture Program, the trials will evaluate impacts of two regenerative agriculture strategies: multispecies pasture cropping and time-controlled grazing.
Baseline soil testing has been completed, and the first multispecies pasture crop sown. Pasture assessments and feed quality testing are also underway to establish a benchmark for long-term monitoring.
