Grow West recently celebrated 22 years of hands-on care by planting over 4,000 seedlings at their annual planting day. Hosted by Melbourne Water (previously Port Phillip & Western Port CMA) the Grow West program seeks to restore the landscapes to the west of Melbourne by supporting landholders with individual restoration solutions.
In an area that includes fertile cropping lands; alluvial flats supporting vegetables and horticulture; and smaller lifestyle properties the landscape is under pressure from high population growth and urban expansion.
Melbourne Water coordinates the program on behalf of their partners, the Moorabool Shire Council, City of Melton, Moorabool Landcare Network, Parks Victoria, Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, Southern Rural Water, Greater Western Water, and community representatives.
