Traditional Owners are embedded in BMRG’s Landscape Repair Project. Funded by the Australian government’s Reef Trust, the project aims to reduce sedimentation, restore eroded stream banks and deliver large-scale restoration and resilience across the region.
Traditional Owners have been involved in co-designing cultural heritage assessments, on-ground delivery and ongoing monitoring and maintenance. The lower Burnett River restoration site is a place of deep cultural and environmental significance and Taribelang Bunda Rangers are helping to heal and restore this area by conducting site maintenance to ensure newly planted native trees and shrubs become established.
