Mobs on Morapoi for Nganamara

Collecting data for monitoring the health of Country alongside building the case for ongoing support of malleefowl
Three people standing around a large mound of red dirt, two measuring the diameter with a tape measure and one recording the measurements.

Rangelands NRM recently hosted a ‘Mobs on Morapoi for Nganamara (malleefowl)’ workshop to bring together three different Aboriginal groups keen to be more involved in land management and threatened species conservation on their Country.

Reading Country for landscape indicators was a key focus of the workshop. This focus ensured rangers collected data useful for monitoring the health and condition of their Country, while at the same time collecting important information to build the case for ongoing support for the nationally listed threatened ground-dwelling malleefowl.

The workshop was hosted by the managers of Morapoi Station and funded and facilitated by Rangelands NRM staff and Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, with assistance from the National Malleefowl Recovery Group (NMRG) and the Indigenous Desert Alliance.
