Fitzroy Basin Association (FBA) is scaling up its ‘Slow Down for Koalas’ campaign, an initiative designed to protect regional koala populations from vehicle strikes. By engaging local community members, regional motorists, and local councils, FBA aims to raise awareness about road safety hotspots and the critical importance of creating safe transit zones within key koala habitats.
The project leverages community-led advocacy and targeted signage to change driver behaviour in high-risk areas. The program is funded through the Australian Government’s Saving Koalas fund.
